Sigma Phi Epsilon
SIGMA PHI EPSILON
UTAH BETA chapter
Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp) was founded on November 1, 1901, at Richmond College, now the University of Richmond, in Richmond, Va. Since then, SigEp has grown to become one of the largest fraternities in the country. Around 15,000 SigEp undergraduates are on 230 college campuses each year. They are among the more than 310,000 lifetime brothers who have joined since 1901. For over 100 years we have been promoting the concept of Building the Balanced Man, which includes being a Leader, Scholar, Athlete. and Gentleman.
In 1901, the 12 founding fathers of Sigma Phi Epsilon proclaimed that “This Fraternity will be different”. If anything, the past 118 years have proved this to be true. SigEp has a strong history of breaking the mold in fraternity life – being the first to openly accept all men, regardless of age, race, color, creed, religion, or sexual orientation and the first to eliminate pledging – through The Balanced Man Program.
Sigma Phi Epsilon's Utah Beta chapter at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City has been developing Balanced Men since 1950.
